In "DEFROST" position, conditions are the same as in "HEAT," except that no vacuum is applied to the defroster door motor (spring loaded to the defrost position). The heater outlets are left open far enough to direct about 30 percent of the air to floor and 70 percent to defroster outlets. The compressor clutch is engaged to dehumidify the air.
