DRB-II Diagnostic Mode

1990 Dodge and Ram Dakota LE, 2D Pickup, 3.9 X, 4WD, AutomaticSECTION DRB-II Diagnostic Mode
  1. Turn ignition off. Attach DRB-II Tester (C-4805) to diagnostic connector.
  2. On Dakota, diagnostic connector is located in engine compartment, on right corner of firewall. See Figure and Figure .
  3. On Pickup, Ramcharger and Van, diagnostic connector is located in engine compartment, on left side of master cylinder. See Figure and Figure .
  4. Start engine (if possible). With foot on brake, move transmission shift lever through all positions, ending in Park. Turn A/C switch on, then off (if equipped).
  5. Turn engine off. Without starting engine again, turn ignition on. Enter vehicle model year and engine size. Read fault data on DRB-II. Refer to appropriate NO START TESTSΒ  or DRIVEABILITY TESTSΒ  trouble shooting chart for specific engine.
NOTE: When using trouble shooting charts for diagnosis, DO NOTΒ  skip any steps in chart or incorrect diagnosis may result.
