Camshaft Position Sensor: Installation

  1. Install target magnet in end of camshaft. Ensure the CMP sensor dowels line up with the holes in the end of the camshaft. See Fig 1. Tighten mounting screw to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ . Do not overtighten magnet bolt. Overtightening could cause cracks in magnet. If magnet cracks, replace it.
  2. Install CMP sensor. Tighten CMP sensor mounting bolts to specification. Carefully attach electrical connector to CMP sensor. Installation at an angle may damage the sensor pins. Reconnect the negative battery cable. Install the air cleaner lid, connect the inlet air temperature sensor and air hose.
