Test 14A: PCI Bus Communication

1999 Chrysler LHSSECTION Test 14A: PCI Bus Communication
  1. Diagnostic trouble code may be caused by PCI bus failure, other modules linked to PCI bus, or PCI bus open, shorted to voltage or shorted to ground. Go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool, clear diagnostic trouble codes. Turn ignition off, and then on. Wait 20 seconds. Using scan tool, read diagnostic trouble codes. If scan tool displays PCI BUS COMMUNICATION, go to next step. If scan tool does not display PCI BUS COMMUNICATION, go to step 7)Β  .
  3. Check other modules on PCI bus circuit for PCI BUS COMMUNICATION DTC. If PCI BUS COMMUNICATION DTC is present on any other module, see appropriate BODY CONTROL COMPUTER TESTS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. If PCI BUS COMMUNICATION DTC is not present on any other module, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect CAB connector. Inspect connector for pushed-out terminals, damaged terminals, or miswired terminals. If all terminals are okay, go to next step. If terminals are defective, repair as necessary.
  5. Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, probe PCI bus circuit (Yellow/Violet wire) at CAB connector terminal No. 20. If voltage is more than 0.4 volt, replace CAB. If voltage is 0.4 or less, go to next step.
  6. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector. Inspect connector for pushed-out terminals, damaged terminals, or miswired terminals. If all terminals are okay, repair open in PCI bus circuit (Yellow/Violet wire) between CAB and BCM. If terminals are defective, repair as necessary.
  7. Condition required to set diagnostic trouble code is not present at this time. Inspect related wiring and connections. Repair as necessary. Go to next step.
  8. Diagnostic trouble code will set when CAB cannot transmit ABS warning light status message for 5 seconds. If instrument cluster does not receive ABS warning light status message, instrument cluster will provide a ground path and illuminate ABS warning light. Diagnostic trouble code can also be set if CAB does not receive a message from instrument cluster for 10 seconds. Test is complete.
