Removal Procedure
- Automatic Transmission Fluid Filter (1) - Remove and DISCARD - Automatic Transmission Fluid Filter Replacement - External Canister Filter
Automatic Transmission (1) - Remove - Transmission Replacement (North America) , or Transmission Replacement (Except North America)
Using the J-24420-C Crankshaft Balancer Puller (1) and the J-02619-A Slide Hammer (2) disengage the rear axle shaft.
Rear Axle Shaft-Left Side (1) - Remove
- If reinstalling the original rear axle shaft, remove and DISCARD the rear axle shaft clip (2).
Rear Axle Shaft Seal-Left Side (1) - Remove and DISCARD - Rear Axle Shaft Seal Replacement - Left Side
Clutch Housing (2) - Remove - Clutch and Differential Housing Replacement
Main Shaft Plug (1) - Remove and DISCARD
- Remove and DISCARD the intermediate clutch spring retainer (2).
- Direct Clutch Spring (3) - Remove and DISCARD
Direct Clutch (1) - Remove
- NOTE:
The stator shaft must be replaced whenever the direct clutch is replaced.
Stator Shaft Support Bolt (1) - Remove and DISCARD [4x]
- Rotate the stator shaft (2) so that the flat on the flange is facing the automatic transmission fluid pump drive gear (3). Remove the stator shaft.
The automatic transmission fluid filters must be serviced when replacing the direct clutch.
