Circuit/System Description
During Fail Operative Steering the Column Friction Device should prevent the steering column from moving, allowing the Active Rear Steering to control the trajectory of the vehicle.
The column friction mechanism is a fail-safe that is designed to maintain front steering gear angle in the event of a steering gear failure
Column friction mechanism is a clutch-type mechanism designed to hold between 15 - 20 N.m of slip-torque

When to See a Mechanic
