Reprogram Control Module
To program an existing power steering control module, or if a new steering gear has been installed, perform the following procedure:
Power Steering Control Module - Setup should not be performed during this procedure.
- Install EL-49642Β SPS programming support tool.
- Ignition ON.
- Access the Service Programming System (SPS) and follow the on-screen instructions.
- On the SPS Supported Controllers screen, select Power Steering Control Module - Programming and follow the on-screen instructions.
- At the end of programming, choose the "Clear All DTCs" function on the SPS screen.
- With a scan tool, Clear All DTCs.
- Perform Steering Wheel Angle Sensor Centering
When a new power steering gear is installed, the Steering Angle Sensor Centering procedure is performed during the Wheel Alignment procedure.

When to See a Mechanic
Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:

- β’ Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
- β’ The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
