Remove the left front floor lower console side finish cover. Refer to Front Floor Lower Console Side Finish Cover Replacement - Left Side (Terrain) , Front Floor Lower Console Side Finish Cover Replacement - Left Side (Equinox) .
1 Front Floor Console Transmission Shift Opening Trim Plate

Procedures

  1. Using a suitable tool, release the two left retainer tabs securing the front floor console transmission shift opening trim plate to the shift control assembly.
  2. While holding the left edge of the front floor console transmission shift opening trim plate up, to keep the retainer tabs from reattaching, grasp the shifter assembly and gently pull it to the left.
  3. Push the front floor console transmission shift opening trim plate to the right as far as possible and pull upward in order to release the two right side retainer tabs.
