Preliminary Procedure 
Remove the body side trim panel. Refer to Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side (Standard Wheelbase w/E61) , Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side (Extended Wheelbase w/E61) , Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side (Extended Wheelbase w/o E61) , Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side (Standard Wheelbase w/o E61) .
1 Power Liftgate Actuator Module Retainer
Procedure 
Press the retainer to release.
2 Power Liftgate Actuator Module
3 Electrical Connector

Procedure

  1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  2. If a replacement control module is installed, program the replacement module. Refer to Liftgate Control Module Programming and Setup .
