Removal Procedure

- Remove the steering column assembly. Refer to Steering Column ReplacementΒ .
- Remove the steering wheel position sensor retainer (1).
- With the steering wheel position sensor centered, insert a 1 - 2 mm pin into the steering wheel position sensor.
- Remove the steering wheel position sensor assembly (2).
- Remove the turn signal switch bracket (column without shaft lock) or the steering column electronic lock (column with shaft lock) from the steering column assembly. Refer to Turn Signal Switch Bracket ReplacementΒ , or Steering Column Electronic Lock ReplacementΒ .
- Remove the steering column tilt spring. Refer to Steering Column Tilt Spring Replacement (Manual)Β , Steering Column Tilt Spring Replacement (Telescoping)Β .
- Using the J 21854 Pivot Pin Remover (2), and while supporting the steering column housing assembly, remove the steering column pivot pins (1).
- Remove the steering shaft assembly (2) and steering column housing as an assembly from the steering column jacket.
- Remove the steering column housing (1) from the steering shaft (2).
