TECHNICAL
Bulletin No.: 09-03-10-001A
Date: April 21, 2009
Subject:
Intermittent Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) Telltale Illuminated, No Communication Between Tire Pressure Monitor Sensors and Receiver (Replace All Four Tires)
Models:
2008 Chevrolet Express 2500 (3/4 Ton), 3500 Series
2008 GMC Savana 2500 (3/4 Ton), 3500 Series
Non-Cutaway Models Equipped With Low Tire Pressure Indicator (RPO UJ6) and LT225/75R16 Tire (RPO 2HI and 3HI)
Attention:
The vehicles involved were all originally delivered to Budget / Avis Corporation. These vehicles (built with RPOs UJ6, 2HI, and 3HI) are equipped with GoodYear RSA Unisteel tires. ONLY vehicles built with these RPO codes are eligible for tire replacements.
Supercede:
This bulletin is being revised to add 2500 Series 3/4 ton vans. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 09-03-10-001 (Section 03 - Suspension).
Condition
Some customers may comment on the Tire Pressure Monitor telltale being intermittently illuminated even with the correct required air pressure in the tires.
Cause
Vehicles with RPO Codes UJ6, 2HI and 3HI were built with GoodYear RSA Unisteel tires, which feature reinforced steel cord sidewalls. The additional steel content in the sidewall of the tires may reduce the performance of the TPM sensor signal being received by the TPM controller.
Correction
Replace all four tires with non-steel sidewall models. The suggested replacement tire is the Uniroyal Laredo LT225/75R16, GM P/N 89032582 or equivalent. The spare tire is not monitored by the TPM system and SHOULD NOT be replaced.
Notice
This bulletin is to address the above possible condition with factory installed GoodYear RSA Unisteel tires. ONLY vehicles with these factory installed tires are eligible for this program. ALWAYS confirm the above RPO codes before replacing tires.
Parts Information

The tire described above is an acceptable tire. If this tire is not available, you may substitute an equivalent tire.
Important
Do not install any tire with a steel sidewall construction or a tire advertised with sidewall impact protection (steel sidewall).
Warranty Information
For vehicles under warranty that qualify for tire replacement, you MUST use the Labor Operation shown below.
