Windshield Wiper Switch Circuit/System Testing
2008 Chevrolet Chevy Express G3500, Van Passenger ExtendedSECTION Windshield Wiper Switch Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the windshield wiper switch.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition voltage circuit terminal D and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition voltage circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- Verify the scan tool Windshield Wiper Switch parameter is Off.
- If not Off, test the signal circuit terminal E for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the body control module.
- Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal E and battery voltage. Verify the scan tool Windshield Wiper Switch parameter is Low/Mist/Hi.
- If not Low/Mist/Hi, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the body control module.
- Ignition Off, remove the WPR 52 high relay at the underhood fuse block.
- Place the wiper switch in the high speed position.
- Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the wiper switch high signal circuit terminal 86 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the windshield wiper/washer switch.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the windshield wiper switch.
