  1. Test for incorrect fuel pressure. Go to FUEL PRESSURE TEST under FUEL SYSTEMS (GASOLINE) in BASIC DIAGNOSTICS PROCEDURES - 2.2L ALERO, CAVALIER, GRAND AM & SUNFIRE article.
  2. Check for a restricted fuel filter. Go to FUEL SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS (GASOLINE) under FUEL SYSTEMS in BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES - 2.2L ALERO, CAVALIER, GRAND AM & SUNFIRE article.
  3. Test the fuel injectors. Go to FUEL INJECTOR BALANCE TEST WITH SPECIAL TOOL , FUEL INJECTOR BALANCE TEST WITH TECH 2 , or FUEL INJECTOR COIL TEST WITH SPECIAL TOOL under FUEL SYSTEMS (GASOLINE) in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING - 2.2L ALERO, CAVALIER, GRAND AM & SUNFIRE article.
  4. Check for a contaminated fuel condition. Go to ALCOHOL/CONTAMINANTS-IN-FUEL DIAGNOSIS WITH SPECIAL TOOL or ALCOHOL/CONTAMINANTS-IN-FUEL DIAGNOSIS WITHOUT SPECIAL TOOL under FUEL SYSTEMS (GASOLINE) in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING - 2.2L ALERO, CAVALIER, GRAND AM & SUNFIRE article.
  5. Verify that each injector harness is connected to the correct injector or cylinder. Relocate injector harnesses as necessary.
