2008 Chevrolet Chevy Express G2500, Van Cargo, 6.6 6SECTION Diagnostic Procedures

- Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Engine Controls? If yes, go to next step. If no, perform diagnostic system check - engine controls. See DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK - ENGINE CONTROLS under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Select MAF sensor parameter on scan tool. Is MAF sensor value more than or equal to 185.0 g/s? If yes, go to step 7. If no, go to next step.
- Observe MAF sensor parameters on scan tool. Is MAF sensor less than or equal to 0.45 g/s? If yes, go to step 5. If no, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, clear DTC information. Operate vehicle within freeze frame conditions specified. Does a DTC P0100 set? If yes, go to step 2. If no, see INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES - 1.8L VIBE article.
- Turn ignition OFF. Disconnect MAF sensor 5-pin harness connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position, engine OFF. Using a test light connected to ground, probe ignition positive voltage circuit. Is the test light illuminated? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to step 10.
- Turn ignition OFF. Connect MAF sensor 5-pin harness connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position, engine OFF. Backprobe MAF signal high circuit at the PCM with a DMM connected to ground. Is MAF signal high voltage 0.5-3.0 volts? If yes, go to step 11. If no, go to step 12.
- Turn ignition OFF. Disconnect MAF sensor 5-pin harness connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position, engine OFF. Connect a test light between battery voltage and MAF signal low circuit. Does the test light illuminate? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to step 9.
- Measure MAF signal high circuit voltage at MAF sensor harness connector using a DMM connected to ground. Is MAF signal high circuit voltage more than 0.2 volt? If yes, go to step 13. If no, go to step 15.
- Check for an open in MAF sensor signal low circuit. Repair as necessary. Did you find and correct a condition? If yes, go to step 18. If no, go to step 14.
- Repair open in MAF sensor ignition positive voltage circuit. After you complete the repair, go to step 18.
- Remove MAF sensor from air cleaner housing. Continue to backprobe MAF signal high circuit at PCM using DMM. Observe voltage on MAF signal high circuit while blowing gently into MAF sensor orifice. Did the signal high circuit voltage increase when blowing air into the sensor orifice? If yes, go to step 14. If no, go to step 15.
- Check for an open or a short to ground in MAF signal high circuit. Repair as necessary. Did you find and correct a condition? If yes, go to step 18. If no, go to step 17.
- Check for a short to voltage in MAF signal high circuit. Repair as necessary. Did you find and correct a condition? If yes, go to step 18. If no, go to step 17.
- Check for an intermittent or a poor electrical connection at PCM. Repair as necessary. Did you find and correct a condition? If yes, go to step 18. If no, go to step 17.
- Check for an intermittent or a poor electrical connection at MAF sensor. Repair as necessary. Did you find and correct a condition? If yes, go to step 18. If no, go to next step.
- Replace MAF sensor. After repair, go to step 18.
- Replace PCM. After repair, go to step 18.
- Use scan tool to clear DTCs. Turn ignition OFF for 30 seconds. Start engine. Operate vehicle within CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING THE DTC . Does the DTC run and pass? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to step 2.
- Using scan tool, observe stored information, CAPTURE INFO. Does scan tool display any DTCs that you have not diagnosed? If yes, go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If no, system is okay at this time.
