2006 Chevrolet Suburban C2500, 6.0 USECTION Cleaning Procedures

- Disconnect negative battery cable.
- Relieve fuel system pressure. Refer to FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE under FUEL SYSTEMS in BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES - 4.3L CHEVY EXPRESS & SAVANA article.
- Drain fuel tank.
- Remove fuel tank.
- Remove fuel sender assembly.
- Inspect fuel strainer. Replace a contaminated strainer and inspect fuel pump.
- Inspect fuel pump inlet for dirt and debris. Replace fuel pump if you find dirt or debris in fuel pump inlet.
- Flush fuel tank with hot water.
- Pour water out of fuel sender assembly opening.
- Rock the tank to be sure that removal of the water from tank is complete.
- Inspect the in-line fuel filter for contamination.
- Replace fuel filter, if plugged.
NOTE:
When flushing fuel tank, handle fuel and water mixture as a hazardous material. Handle fuel and water mixture in accordance with all applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations.
