- Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
- Verify that the selector lever is in the P position.
- Without the brake pedal depressed, verify that the selector lever cannot be shifted from the P position.
- Remove the panel cover using a screwdriver as shown in the figure.
- Insert the screwdriver into the emergency override hole and push it down. Verify that the selector lever can be shifted from the P position.
- If there is any malfunction, replace the selector lever component. (See SELECTOR LEVER COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
