Keyless Entry System Description and Operation: Notes

2006 Chevrolet SSR AutomaticSECTION Notes

The keyless entry system is a supplementary vehicle entry device. The keyless entry system allows access to the interior and rear compartment of the vehicle without the use of a door lock key. Radio frequencies or a discharged transmitter battery may disable the system.

Keyless entry allows you to operate the following components:

  • The door locks, including the rear compartment.
  • The illuminated entry lamps
  • The panic alarm

The keyless entry system has the following main components:

  • The keyless entry transmitters
  • The remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR)

The RCDLR communicates with the body control module (BCM) through the class 2 serial data circuit. When a transmitter button is pressed, an RF signal is sent to the RCDLR. Once the signal is reviewed by the RCDLR, a request is sent to the BCM to perform the appropriate function.
