WARNING: Do not strike or jolt the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM). Before applying power to the SDM, make sure that it is securely fastened with the arrow facing toward the front of the vehicle. Failure to observe the correct installation procedure could cause SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.
Preliminary Procedure:Β Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to SIR Disabling and EnablingΒ .
1 Front Floor Console Rear Cup Holder
2 Front Floor Console Armrest Assembly Bolt (Qty: 2)
CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .

Tighten:Β  10 N.m (89 lb in)

3 Front Floor Console Armrest Assembly
4 Front Floor Console Park Brake Trim Plate
Tip:Β  Engage the park brake in order to remove the trim plate.
5 Inflatable Restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Nut (Qty: 3)

Tighten:Β  10 N.m (89 lb in)

6 Inflatable Restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module

Procedure

  1. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  3. The AIR BAG indicator may remain ON after the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) has been replaced. DTC B1001 may set requiring the SDM part number to be set in multiple modules. If the indicator remains ON after enabling the SIR system, perform the diagnostic system check and follow the steps thoroughly to ensure that the SDM is set properly.
  4. Reprogram the body control module (BCM). Refer to Control Module References .
  5. Refer to Control Module References for programming and setup information.
