2006 Chevrolet Cobalt SS, 4D Sedan, StandardSECTION Installation Procedure

IMPORTANT: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during installation.

  1. Install the battery.
  2. Install the underhood bused electrical center.
  3. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  4. Install the battery retainer (2) and bolts (1).

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the bolts to 18 N.m (13 lb ft).

  6. Install the positive battery cable terminal to the battery.
  7. Tighten the positive battery cable terminal nut.

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the nut to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).

  8. Position the positive battery cable terminal cover (2).
  9. Install the right front diagonal brace. Refer to Front Fender Upper Diagonal Brace Replacement .
  10. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (RPO LS4)Β  or Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (RPOs LZE/LZ4/LZ9)Β .
