2006 Chevrolet Cobalt SS, 4D Sedan, StandardSECTION Installation Procedure

  1. Guide the starter into the engine block (flywheel housing).
  2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the starter mounting bolts.

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the starter-to-engine bolts to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).

  4. Install the B+ cable and nut.

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the B+ cable-to-starter nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  5. Install the S-terminal wire and nut.

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the S-terminal nut to 5 N.m (4 lb ft).

  6. Connect the negative battery cable to the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect ProcedureΒ .

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the battery terminal bolts to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).

  7. Reprogram the radio stations.
