Removal Procedure

2006 Chevrolet Cobalt SS, 4D Sedan, StandardSECTION Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.

  3. Drain the coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling SystemΒ .
  4. Remove the bolts which secure the power steering fluid reservoir to the fan shroud.
  5. Position the reservoir rearward in the car.

  7. Disconnect both of the cooling fan electrical connectors.
  8. Remove the electrical connectors from the connector retainer by sliding the connector as shown.
  9. Remove the pusher fan electrical harness from the fan shroud retainer tabs.

  11. Remove the upper transaxle cooler line from the radiator end tank and unsnap the front end tank retainer.
  12. Cap or tape off the cooler line to prevent oil loss or contamination.

  14. Remove the clamp which secures the upper radiator hose to the radiator.
  15. Remove the upper radiator hose from the radiator.

  17. Remove the fan shroud bolts.
  18. Remove the fan shroud from the radiator.

  20. Remove the forward wiring harness from the retaining clips.

  22. Remove the lower radiator hose clamp.
  23. Remove the hose from the radiator.

  25. Remove the lower transaxle cooler line from the radiator.
  26. Cap or tape the cooler line and the end tank to prevent oil spillage or contamination.

  28. Remove the wiring harness clips from the upper radiator mounting bracket.
  29. Remove the bolts from the radiator upper mount bracket.
  30. Remove the bracket and the rubber mounts.

  32. Remove the clamp from the radiator coolant air bleed hose.
  33. Remove the hose from the radiator.
  34. Using a piece of wire or a plastic tie, support the condenser from the upper rail.
