Safety Warning
DIY auto repair can cause serious injury, fire, or vehicle damage. These guides are for informational purposes only. Always follow OEM torque specs, wear PPE, and consult a certified mechanic if you are unsure. You are solely responsible for your safety.
Circuit/System Description
This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicates the transmission control module (TCM) has set an emission related transmission DTC. The engine control module (ECM) receives the TCM information over the serial data circuit. The ECM illuminates the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) when the TCM sends a message over the serial data circuit requesting MIL illumination. The DTC information for the ECM will only display DTC P0700, but the freeze frame/failure records data may display the transmission DTC that set.
