2006 Chevrolet Cobalt SS, 4D Sedan, StandardSECTION Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (L26)Β  or Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (LY7)Β .
  2. Remove the right catalytic converter. Refer to CELL LINKΒ  in Engine Exhaust.

  4. Remove the fasteners securing the starter heat shield to the starter.
  5. Remove the starter heat shield.

  7. Remove the nut securing the starter heat shield mounting bracket to the starter.
  8. Remove the starter heat shield mounting bracket.

  10. Remove the nut securing the starter heat shield mounting bracket to the engine block.
  11. Remove the starter heat shield mounting bracket.
