Installation Procedure

2006 Chevrolet Cobalt SS, 4D Sedan, StandardSECTION Installation Procedure

  1. Position the generator and install the top bolts finger tight.

  2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the bottom bolts and tighten all the generator bolts.

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the generator-to-engine block bolts to 22 N.m (16 lb. ft.).

  4. Connect the electrical connections.

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the B+ cable-to-generator nut to 20 N.m (15 lb. ft.).

  5. IMPORTANT: Use the required accessory drive belt removal tool number J 44811Β  .
  6. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 2.2L (L61).
  7. Install the throttle body air duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Intake Duct Replacement in Engine Controls - 2.2L (L61).
  8. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect ProcedureΒ .

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the battery terminal bolt to 17 N.m (13 lb. ft.).

  9. Reprogram the radio stations.
