Removal Procedure

2006 Chevrolet Cobalt SS, 4D Sedan, StandardSECTION Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
  2. Disable the passenger SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 in SIR.
  3. Remove the center console. Refer to Console ReplacementΒ .
  4. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  5. Remove the HVAC control. Refer to HVAC Control Assembly Replacement in HVAC - Manual.
  6. Remove the left air outlet louver. Refer to Deflector Replacement - Instrument Panel Air - Left in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  7. Remove the right air outlet louver. Refer to Deflector Replacement - Instrument Panel Air - Right in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  8. Remove the defroster grille. Refer to Defroster Grille ReplacementΒ .
  9. Remove the I/P cluster. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) ReplacementΒ .
  10. Remove the harness clips from the I/P.

  11. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
  12. Remove the I/P compartment. Refer to Compartment Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P)Β .
  13. Remove the hood release handle. Refer to Hood Latch Release Cable Replacement in Body Front End.
  14. Remove the data link connector (DLC) from the I/P.
  15. Remove the I/P to floor bracket fasteners.

  16. Remove all harness clips from the I/P.

  17. Remove the I/P fasteners.

  18. Remove the I/P from the vehicle.
