2006 Chevrolet Chevy Express G2500, Van Cargo, 6.6 2SECTION Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the steering gear from the vehicle. Refer to Power Steering Gear Replacement (Rack and Pinion)Β  or Power Steering Gear Replacement (Non Rack and Pinion)Β .
  2. Rotate stub shaft back and forth to drain the power steering fluid.
  3. Place J 42882Β  over the end of the stub shaft. Slide J 43435 over the top of J 42882Β  . Use a torque wrench to remove the lock nut from the steering gear housing.

    J 43435 reverses to work with all available lock nut assemblies.

  4. Using J 42882Β  , remove the adjuster nut assembly from the steering gear housing.

  5. Remove the thrust bearing support from the steering gear housing.

    Discard the thrust bearing support.
