2006 Chevrolet Chevy Express G2500, Van Cargo, 6.6 2SECTION Installation Procedure

  1. If the fuel tank was replaced, install the sending unit. Refer to Fuel Sender Assembly ReplacementΒ .
  2. Remove the caps from the fuel pipes.
  3. With the aid of an assistant, place the fuel tank on the jack.
  4. Raise the fuel tank.
  5. Install the fuel tank straps (1).
    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  6. Install the fuel tank strap bolts.

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the bolts to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).

  8. Remove the jack from under the fuel tank.
  9. Install the fuel tank shield.
  10. Install the fuel tank shield bolts.

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the bolts to 18 N.m (13 lb ft).

  12. Lower the vehicle.
  13. Connect the fuel feed/return pipes at the fuel tank. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Metal Collar)Β .

  15. Connect the sending unit electrical connector.
  16. Install the fuel fill pipe and vent hose to the tank.

  18. Tighten the fuel fill and vent hose clamps at the fuel tank.

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the clamps to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).

  19. Connect the fuel feed and pressure balance rear pipes. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Metal Collar)Β .

  21. Fill the fuel tank.
  22. Install the fuel fill cap.
  23. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (Single Battery) or Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (Auxiliary Battery) in Engine Electrical.
  24. Prime the fuel system.
  25. Start the engine and test for fuel leaks.
