Check Gages

2006 Chevrolet Chevy Express G2500, Van Cargo, 6.6 2SECTION Check Gages

The instrument panel cluster (IPC) illuminates the check gages indicator as determined by the powertrain control module (PCM). The PCM monitors the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor and the engine oil pressure (EOP) sensor. When the PCM detects that the engine metal is hot, or the engine coolant temperature is higher than normal or the engine oil pressure is lower than normal, the PCM sends a class 2 message to the IPC requesting illumination. When a high coolant temperature condition exists, the IPC illuminates a solid check gages indicator and activates an audible warning. When the engine metal is hot, the IPC flashes the check gages indicator and activates an audible warning. The IPC only illuminates a solid check gages indicator with a low engine oil pressure condition.
