Removal Procedure
2006 Chevrolet Chevy Express G2500, Van Cargo, 6.6 2SECTION Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
- Drain the axle lubricant. Refer to Lubricant Replacement - Rear Drive Axle (8.6 Inch Axle) or Lubricant Replacement - Rear Drive Axle (9.75 Inch, 10.5 Inch Axles) .
- Remove the rear axle assembly. Refer to Rear Axle Replacement .
- Remove the brake caliper brackets. Refer to Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement - Rear (15/25 Series w/o NYS) or Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement - Rear (35 Series) in Disc Brakes.
- Remove the brake rotors. Refer to Brake Rotor Replacement - Rear (W/Dual Wheels) or Brake Rotor Replacement - Rear (Except Dual Wheels) in Disc Brakes.
- Remove the hub and rotor assembly, 10.5 inch axle only. Refer to Rear Axle Hub, Bearing, Cup, and/or Seal Replacement .
- Remove the rear axle housing cover and gasket. Refer to Rear Axle Housing Cover and Gasket Replacement (8.6 Inch Axle) or Rear Axle Housing Cover and Gasket Replacement (9.75 Inch, 10.5 Inch Axles) .
- Remove the axle shafts. Refer to Rear Axle Shaft Replacement .
- Remove the brake backing plates. Refer to Disc Brake Backing Plate Replacement - Rear in Disc Brakes.
- Remove the rear axle shaft oil seal and the bearing. Refer to Rear Axle Shaft Seal and/or Bearing Replacement .
- Remove the differential assembly. Refer to Differential Replacement (8.6 Inch Axle) or Differential Replacement (9.75 Inch, 10.5 Inch Axles) .
- Remove the drive pinion shaft yoke and the oil seal. Refer to Drive Pinion Flange/Yoke and/or Oil Seal Replacement (8.6 Inch Axle) or Drive Pinion Flange/Yoke and/or Oil Seal Replacement (9.75 Inch, 10.5 Inch Axles) .
- Remove the drive pinion and the inner pinion bearing. Refer to Drive Pinion and Ring Gear Replacement (8.6 Inch Axle) or Drive Pinion and Ring Gear Replacement (9.75 Inch, 10.5 Inch Axles) .
- Remove the pinion bearing cups. Refer to Drive Pinion Bearings Replacement (8.6 Inch Axle) or Drive Pinion Bearings Replacement (9.75 Inch, 10.5 Inch Axles) .
