Installation Procedure

2006 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado 2D Pickup, 8.1 G, 4WD, AutomaticSECTION Installation Procedure
  1. Install the generator bracket.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  2. Install the generator bracket stud.

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the stud to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  3. Install the generator bracket bolts and nut.

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the bolts and nut to 50 N.m (37 lb ft)

  4. Install the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement (4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L Engines)Β  or Generator Replacement (6.6L (LLY) Engine)Β  or Generator Replacement (8.1L Engine)Β .
  5. Install the drive belt idler pulley. Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 8.1L.
  6. Install the fan and clutch. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement (Diesel) or Fan Clutch Replacement (Gasoline) in Engine Cooling.

  8. Install the battery cable junction block bracket bolts.

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the bolts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
