2005 Chevrolet Malibu LSSECTION Installation Procedure

  1. Lubricate the CKP sensor O-ring with clean engine oil.
  2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the CKP sensor in the engine block and attachment bolt.

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the crankshaft position sensor bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  4. Connect the CKP sensor harness connector. Push in the connector until a click is heard, then pull back to confirm a positive engagement.
  5. Install the starter into the flywheel housing and align the bolt holes.

  7. Install the upper and lower starter assembly to the engine block bolts.

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the starter-to-engine bolts to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).

  8. Install the two starter solenoid harness connections and attachment nuts.

    Tighten:Β 

    • Tighten the starter solenoid harness nuts (large) to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
    • Tighten the starter solenoid harness nuts (small) to 3 N.m (27 lb in).

  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the battery terminal bolts to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).

  11. Reset the clock to preset the radio stations.
