- Open the lift gate.
- Support the lift gate.
- Remove the roof rear header garnish molding. Refer to GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT - REAR UPPER (AVALANCHE/ESCALADE EXT) or GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT - REAR UPPER (TAHOE/YUKON/ESCALADE/SUBURBAN) in Interior Trim.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors, as needed.
- Disconnect the lift gate window washer fluid hose.
- Remove the lift gate struts. Refer to STRUT REPLACEMENT - LIFT GATE .
- Remove the bolts retaining the lift gate hinge to the body mounted hinge locator.
- With an assistant, remove the lift gate.
