2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer 4.2 S, 4WDSECTION Removal Procedure

    CAUTION: Refer to SIR CAUTION in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to DISABLING SYSTEM in SIR.
  2. IMPORTANT: Remove the SIR coil from the steering shaft and let the SIR coil hang freely.
  3. Remove the SIR coil. Refer to SIR COIL ASSEMBLY .

  5. Install the J 23653-SIR and J 42137Β  to the steering shaft and compress the shaft lock shield.
  6. Remove the lock shield retainer from the steering column shaft.
  7. Remove the J 23653-SIR and J 42137Β  from the steering shaft.

  9. Remove the following parts from the steering shaft:
    1. The shaft lock shield (4)
    2. The turn signal cancel cam (3)
  10. Rotate the steering column lock cylinder to the OFF-LOCK position.

  12. Insert a small screwdriver into the slot on the electronic lock module and push down on the park lock cable locking tab. Remove park lock cable (1) from the electronic lock module.

  14. Rotate the key alarm switch connector from the electronic lock module.
  15. Disconnect the passlock electrical connector from the electronic lock module.

  17. Remove the ignition lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement - On VehicleΒ .
  18. Disconnect the ignition switch (2) from the electronic lock module using the J 42759Β  .
  19. Remove the ignition switch (2) from the electronic lock module (2).
  20. Let the ignition switch (2) hang freely.

  22. Remove the electronic lock module (1) mounting screws (2).
  23. Remove the electronic lock module (1) from the steering column housing.
