Shift Lock Solenoid: Removal

2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer 4.2 S, 4WDSECTION Removal

  1. Place the gearshift lever in Park position. Remove the left closeout insulator panel. See LEFT SIDE INSULATOR PANELΒ  . Loosen the left front carpet to allow access to the park lock cable routing.
  2. Remove the 4 steering column bolts and lower the steering column. See appropriate STEERING COLUMNS article in STEERING.
  3. NOTE: Do not attempt to perform this step with the ignition key in any other position except RUN.
  4. Turn the ignition key to RUN position. Slip a flat blade screwdriver into the slot provided in the ignition switch inhibitor. Depress the cable latch and pull the park lock cable from the inhibitor.
  5. Remove the radio and console trim plates. See CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL TRIMΒ  and CONSOLE TRIM PLATEΒ  . Remove the park lock cable at the shift control assembly. Remove the park lock cable from the vehicle.
