Removal & Installation: Transaxle: Installation
2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer 4.2 S, 4WDSECTION Installation

- Install the PNP switch.
- Install the shifter cable bracket. See Figure .
- Install the lower transaxle-to-engine stud. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the transaxle mount.
- Position the transaxle in the vehicle.
- Install the lower transaxle-to-engine bolts and nuts. See Figure . Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Connect the transaxle cooler pipes to the transaxle. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the torque converter-to-flywheel bolts. See Figure . Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the drive shafts to the transaxle. See appropriate AXLE SHAFTS article in DRIVELINE/AXLES.
- Connect the wiring harness to the VSS.
- Install the starter. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the battery cable to the starter and the nut. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the starter wire and the nut to the starter solenoid. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the flywheel inspection cover. See Figure .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Use the engine support fixture to raise the engine and transaxle assembly.
- Install the transaxle mount-to-body bolts. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Raise the vehicle.
- Install the frame replacement in frame and underbody.
- Install the transaxle-to-engine brace bolts. See Figure . Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the left front fender liner. See Figure . Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the front wheel and tire assembly lug nuts. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the upper transaxle-to-engine bolts and stud. See Figure . Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the engine wiring harness grounds to the transaxle to engine mount stud and nut. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Remove the engine support fixture.
- Connect the electrical connectors to the PNP switch and transaxle.
- Install the shift linkage to the transaxle. See Figure .
- Connect the air duct hose to the intake plenum.
- Connect the negative battery cable. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Inspect the transaxle fluid level. See appropriate SERVICING article as follows:
- For 2002 models, see SERVICING - MALIBU article.
- For 2003 models, see SERVICING - MALIBU article.
