DTC B3033: System Indicates Tamper: Testing

- If theft deterrent diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If theft deterrent diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to THEFT DETERRENT DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECKΒ .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC), located below steering column. See Figure . Momentarily turn ignition switch to CRANK position, not letting engine start, release ignition switch to RUN position. Select scan tool Passlock(tm) module display DTCs function. If scan tool displays DTC B3033 as a current DTC, go to next step. If scan tool does not display DTC B3033 as a current DTC, go to DIAGNOSTIC AIDSΒ .
- Inspect area around ignition lock cylinder for any device which could create a magnetic field (audio speaker, magnet, etc). If a magnetic device is near the ignition lock cylinder, go to next step. If no magnetic device is near ignition lock cylinder, go to step Β 5 .
- Remove any device which may be creating a magnetic force. After repair, go to step Β 8 .
- Check Passlock(tm) sensor connector for intermittent or poor terminal contact. If terminal contact is okay, go to next step. If terminal contact is not okay, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step Β 8 .
- Replace Passlock(tm) sensor. After repair, go to next step.
- Perform PROGRAMMING THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM COMPONENTSΒ . After programming, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Momentarily turn ignition switch to CRANK position, not letting engine start, then release to RUN position. Select Passlock(tm) module DISPLAY DTC function. If DTC B3033 does not reset, system is okay at this time. If DTC B3033 resets, go to step Β 3 .
NOTE:
A wait of up to 10 minutes may be needed in order to reset the theft deterrent module and synchronize all Passlock(tm) components.
