Fuel Pressure Regulator: Installation
2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer 4.2 S, 4WDSECTION Installation

- Lubricate NEW "O" rings with clean engine oil. Install back-up ring, upper "O" ring, filter and lower "O" ring. See Figure. Install fuel pressure regulator with vacuum tube pointing down toward retaining clip.
- Install fuel pressure regulator retaining clip. Install upper intake manifold. See INTAKE MANIFOLDΒ . Tighten all nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ . Connect negative battery cable.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position for 2 seconds. Turn ignition switch to OFF position for 10 seconds. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Check for fuel leaks. Repair as necessary.
NOTE:
If reusing fuel pressure regulator, inspect filter screen for contamination. If filter screen is contaminated, replace fuel pressure regulator.
- Install back-up ring, "O" ring, fuel pressure regulator filter and remaining "O" ring onto the fuel pressure regulator. Lubricate the fuel pressure regulator "O" rings with clean engine oil. Install the fuel pressure regulator.
- Install NEW fuel pressure regulator retainer. Connect fuel pressure regulator vacuum line. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position for 2 seconds. Turn ignition switch to OFF position for 10 seconds. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Check for fuel leaks. Repair as necessary. Tighten intake manifold sight shield bolt and intake manifold sight shield retainer bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ .
- Install back-up ring onto fuel pressure regulator, followed by the large "O" ring, fuel pressure regulator filter and small "O" ring. See Figure. Lubricate large and small fuel pressure regulator "O" rings with clean engine oil.
- Push fuel pressure regulator into fuel pressure regulator housing on fuel rail. Install a NEW fuel pressure regulator retainer. Connect fuel pressure regulator vacuum line. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position for 2 seconds. Turn ignition switch to OFF position for 10 seconds. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Check for fuel leaks. Repair as necessary. Tighten intake manifold sight shield retaining bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ .
