- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING COOLING SYSTEMΒ Β .
- Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENTΒ in Engine Mechanical.
- Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to LIFTING & JACKING VEHICLE in General Information.
- Remove the right side lower engine splash shield. Refer to SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT - ENGINE - RIGHTΒ in Body Front End.
- Remove the left side lower engine splash shield. Refer to SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT - ENGINE - LEFTΒ in Body Front End.
- Remove the generator. Refer to GENERATORΒ in Engine Electrical.
- On LV6 engine, remove the water pump pulley.
- On all engines, remove the following components from the vehicle:
- The 6 water pump bolts (1, 2)
- The water pump
- Remove the O-ring from the vehicle.
