2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer 4.2 S, 4WDSECTION Removal Procedure

CAUTION: Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT CAUTION in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING COOLING SYSTEMΒ Β  .
  3. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENTΒ  in Engine Mechanical.
  4. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to LIFTING & JACKING VEHICLE in General Information.
  5. Remove the right side lower engine splash shield. Refer to SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT - ENGINE - RIGHTΒ  in Body Front End.
  6. Remove the left side lower engine splash shield. Refer to SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT - ENGINE - LEFTΒ  in Body Front End.
  7. Remove the generator. Refer to GENERATORΒ  in Engine Electrical.
  8. On LV6 engine, remove the water pump pulley.
  9. On all engines, remove the following components from the vehicle:
    • The 6 water pump bolts (1, 2)
    • The water pump
  10. Remove the O-ring from the vehicle.
