Removal Procedure

2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer 4.2 S, 4WDSECTION Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to LIFTING AND JACKING THE VEHICLE .
  2. Remove the right front tire and wheel assembly from the vehicle. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the right front engine splash shield. Refer to SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT - ENGINE - RIGHT in Body Front End.
  4. Remove the bolt (2) from the power steering pump outlet pipe bracket.

  5. Place a drain pan under the vehicle in order to catch the draining fluid.
  6. Remove the outlet pipe fitting (1) from the pump.
  7. Remove the outlet union from the pump.
  8. Remove the gasket.
  9. Remove the flow control valve from the pump.
  10. Remove the spring from the pump.
  11. Inspect the spring. Replace the spring if necessary.
