- Before you remove the valve keys, rotate the engine so that the piston in the cylinder you are working on is at (TDC) top dead center. This will eliminate the possibility of the valve accidentally falling inside the cylinder.
- Do not loosen or remove the spark plug when the engine is hot.
- Loosen the spark plug, and clean any dirt and debris from the spark plug recess area before removing.
- Remove the spark plug. Refer to SPARK PLUGS .
- Install the J 22794Β into the spark plug port. Apply compressed air in order to hold the valves in place.
- Remove the rocker arm. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod ReplacementΒ .
- Compress the valve spring with the J 38606Β .
- Remove the valve keys.
- Remove the valve cap.
- Remove the valve spring.
- Inspect the valve spring for damage. Replace the spring if it is damaged.
- Remove the spring seat/valve stem oil seal.
