2002 Chevrolet Impala LSSECTION Installation (3.8L)
- Position generator to engine.
- Install positive battery lead to generator.
- Install generator output BAT terminal nut. Tighten generator output BAT terminal nut to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
- Install protective boot to generator output BAT terminal.
- Connect electrical connector to generator.
- Install generator stud (2) to generator bracket. See Figure .
- Install generator bolts (1, 3) to generator bracket.
- Tighten generator bolts and stud in order described. The following is a mandatory torque sequence:
- Tighten generator bolt (1) to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Tighten generator stud (2) to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Tighten generator rear bracket bolt (3) to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Install generator rear brace.
- Install drive belt.
- Connect negative battery negative cable.
NOTE:
Do not tighten stud.
