2002 Chevrolet Impala LSSECTION Door System Diagnostic Systems Check
NOTE:
Use this check as starting point for any door system complaint.
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - IMPALA & MONTE CARLO.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, attempt to establish communications with Body Control Module (BCM). If communication is established, go to next step. If communication cannot be established, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - IMPALA & MONTE CARLO.
- Select BODY CONTROL MODULE DTCS function on scan tool. If scan tool displays any DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, perform appropriate procedure. See SYMPTOM INDEX table under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Using scan tool, check for DTCs U1000-U1305. If DTCs are not present, go to next step. If DTCs are present, go to SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - IMPALA & MONTE CARLO.
- If DTC B1000 is not present, go to next step. If DTC B1000 is present, perform appropriate procedure. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - IMPALA & MONTE CARLO.
- If DTC B1339 or B1349 are not present, go to next step. If DTC B1339 or B1349 is present, perform appropriate procedure. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - IMPALA & MONTE CARLO.
- If DTCs beginning with a "P" are not present, go to next step. If DTCs beginning with a "P" are present, go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - IMPALA & MONTE CARLO.
- If DTCs B3069, B3127, B3128, B3132, B3133, B3137, B3138 or B3272 are not present, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX table under SYSTEM TESTS. If DTCs B3069, B3127, B3128, B3132, B3133, B3137, B3138 or B3272 is present, perform appropriate procedure. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS in POWER DOOR LOCKS - IMPALA & MONTE CARLO.
