2002 Chevrolet Impala LSSECTION Removal (Monte Carlo)
  1. Remove instrument panel cluster trim plate. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER TRIM PLATEΒ .
  2. Apply park brake. Place transaxle shift lever in 2nd gear. Remove front floor console trim plate screw located between instrument panel and shift lever. See Fig 1.
  3. Open storage compartment door. Lift trim plate up and slightly rearward. Remove wiring harnesses from retainers. Disconnect traction control switch electrical connector. Remove shift lever trim plate. Disconnect heated seat switches from trim plate. Remove trim plate by lifting trim plate slightly and rotating trim plate 180 degrees. Lift trim plate over shift control handle. See Fig 2. Disconnect electrical connector from cigarette lighter.
  4. Disconnect wiring harness connector and retainer. Open console storage compartment. Remove storage compartment mat. Remove bolts from bottom of storage compartment. Remove console bolts forward of shift control lever. Remove front floor console. See Fig 3.
  5. Remove retaining screws from HVAC control module. Pull HVAC control module out from instrument panel. Disconnect electrical connectors from HVAC control module. Disconnect vacuum connectors from HVAC control module. Remove HVAC control module from instrument panel.
