Installation Procedure

2002 Chevrolet Avalanche 2500, RWDSECTION Installation Procedure

  1. Install the electronic lock module (1) to the steering column housing.
  2. Install the electronic lock module (1) mounting screws (2).

  4. Install the ignition switch (2) to the electronic lock module (2).
  5. Install the ignition lock cylinder. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement - On Vehicle .

  7. Connect the passlock electrical connector from the lock module
  8. Rotate the key alarm switch connector (1)to the electronic lock module.

  10. Install park lock cable (1) to the electronic lock module.

  12. Install the following parts to the steering shaft:
    1. The turn signal cancel cam (3)
    2. The shaft lock shield (4)

  14. Install the J 23653-SIR and J 42137  to the steering shaft and compress the shaft lock shield.
  15. Install the lock shield retainer to the steering column shaft.
  16. Remove the J 23653-SIR and J 42137  from the steering shaft.
  17. Install the SIR coil. Refer to SIR COIL ASSEMBLY .
  18. Enable the SIR system. Refer to ACTIVATING SYSTEM in SIR.
