Installation Procedure

2001 Chevrolet Suburban C1500SECTION Installation Procedure

  1. Slide the generator mounting bracket on the stud.
  2. Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.

    Install the 2 bolts and the nut.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the generator mounting bracket bolts and nut to 41 N.m (30 lb ft).

  3. Install the drive belt idler pulley. Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement - Right Side in Engine Mechanical-4.3 L.
  4. Install the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement in Engine Mechanical-4.3 L.
  5. Install the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement (4.3 L Engine) .

  7. Install the bolt holding the heater hose bracket to the generator mounting bracket.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the heater hose bracket bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  9. Install the bolt holding the bracket for the wiring harness and the A/C hose, if equipped, to the generator mounting bracket.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the wiring harness bracket bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  10. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical-4.3 L.
  11. Install the engine cooling fan. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement in Engine Cooling.

  13. Align the hinge clip with the lip on the throttle body.

    Install the air inlet tube and resonator to the throttle body by pivoting the air inlet tube and resonator downward until the mounting stud is through the hole in the air inlet tube.

  15. Install the resonator retaining wing nut.
  16. Connect the PCV hose to the air cleaner outlet duct.

  18. Connect the MAF/IAT sensor assembly harness connector.
  19. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Single Battery) .
