Installation Procedure

2001 Chevrolet Suburban C1500SECTION Installation Procedure

  1. Install the positive battery cable.
  2. Install the positive battery cable to the retention clip.
  3. Install the positive battery cable to the starter.
  4. Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.

    Install the nut to the positive terminal of the starter.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

  6. Install the bolts securing the positive cable to the engine.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

  7. Install the positive cable to the power steering accessory bracket (4WD 15 series).
  8. Remove the safety stands.
  9. Lower the vehicle.

  11. Install the positive battery cable to the generator.
  12. Install the nut to the back of the generator.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nut to 18 N.m (13 lb ft).

  14. Install the battery cable junction block to the junction block bracket.

  16. Connect the positive battery cable to the engine wiring harness junction block.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  18. Connect the positive battery cable to the battery.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).

  19. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Single Battery) .
