Removal Procedure

2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 HD, 4WDSECTION Removal Procedure
  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the propeller shaft. Refer to One-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement , or Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement in Propeller Shaft.
  3. Fig 1: Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister

  4. Remove the two evaporative emission (EVAP) canister retaining nuts located in the crossmember.

  6. Disconnect the three EVAP system pipes from the EVAP canister.
  7. Remove the EVAP canister.
  8. Remove the EVAP canister brackets from the EVAP canister.
