NOTE:
Use this check as starting point for any radio/audio system complaint.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, go to TEST D: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UPΒ under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Try to establish scan tool communication with radio and remote CD changer (if equipped). If communication with radio and remote CD changer (if equipped) is established, go to next step. If communication with radio and remote CD changer (if equipped) is not established, see TEST C: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICEΒ under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Using scan tool, select DISPLAY DTCs function for radio and remote CD changer (if equipped). If any DTCs are listed, go to next step. If no DTCs are listed, go to repair as necessary.
- Using scan tool, retrieve DTCs. If DTCs U1000-U1305 are not present, go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONSΒ . Repair as necessary. If DTCs U1000-U1305 are present, see TEST C: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICEΒ under SYSTEM TESTS.
