Removal Procedure
2001 Chevrolet Chevy Express G3500, Van Passenger Extended, 6.5 FSECTION Removal Procedure

- Open the hood.
- Lower the door windows.
- Remove the windshield wiper arms. Refer to Wiper Arm Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems.
- Remove the roof lift off panel (coupe) or lower the folding top (convertible).
- Remove the hood air inlet screen seal. Refer to Seal Replacement - Hood Rear in Body Front End.
- Remove the air inlet screen panel. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
- Remove the lower windshield supports (1) from the cowl panel, if equipped.
- Remove the rearview mirror. Refer to Rearview Mirror Replacement (Base)Β or Rearview Mirror Replacement (DD8)Β .
- Cover to protect the following parts from broken glass:
- Upper dash pad.
- Defroster outlets and A/C outlets.
- Seats and carpeting.
- Remove the windshield weather-strip. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement (Coupe and Convertible)Β or Weatherstrip Replacement (Hardtop)Β .
- Remove the windshield side reveal moldings. Refer to Side Reveal Molding Replacement (Coupe and Convertible)Β or Side Reveal Molding Replacement (Hardtop)Β .
- Remove the windshield side garnish moldings and retainer clips from the windshield frame
- Remove the 4 rearmost screws that attach the top of the fender to the wheelhouse.
- Reposition the top of the fender for tool access.
IMPORTANT:
Before cutting out a stationary window, apply a double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces and inner trim.
CAUTION:
Refer to Defroster Outlet Caution in Cautions and Notices.
IMPORTANT:
Tape or otherwise protect the fender from the cutting tool.
