2001 Chevrolet Chevy Express G3500, Van Passenger Extended, 6.5 FSECTION Installation Procedure

NOTE: Do not engage the child safety switch on the endgate latch. If the endgate is closed with the child safety switch engaged, the endgate will not open unless you remove the endgate trim panel. Removal will damage the endgate trim panel.
  1. Align the endgate latch to the end gate.
  2. Connect the electrical connectors to the endgate latch.
  3. Connect the endgate latch rod to the endgate latch.
  4. Slide the endgate latch into the end gate.
    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  5. Install the endgate latch bolts.

    Tighten:Β  Tighten the endgate latch bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  6. Install the endgate latch rod to the bellcrank. Refer to Bellcrank Replacement - EndgateΒ .

  7. Install the water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement - EndgateΒ .
  8. Install the endgate trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - EndgateΒ .
  9. Close the endgate.
  10. Close the liftgate.
